Hugo Orlandini is a Cuban/Argentinian contemporary artist based in Barcelona worth checking out! Often dealing with controversial political subjects, he says about his creative process: I enjoy transforming objects, experimenting with different materials, evoking new representations and using media such as photography, sculpture and installations. I’m inclined to think of art as a transformational, creative and political energy that has sensorial, optical and mental consequences. A door that grants us access to new channels of perception in order to submit accepted systems to new questions.

Pictured here are his 2 installations Fortune’s fool I & II, reinvention of an image featured in Barcelona’s press, depicting police’s intervention against the immigrants. Check also his latest project, Musical Box, a small nickel–plated bronze statue based on a module of Guantanamo Bay detention camp.
