The 12th edition of Istanbul Biennial opened its doors last week. The curators Adriano Pedrosa and Jens Hoffmann took an inspiration from a work of Felix Gonzalez-Torres and baptized their edition Untitled.
A somewhat cryptic press release states, amongst other, that “this biennale aims to draw attention to the importance of the exhibition, the primary format of artistic and curatorial expression, in response to the mentality today favoring ancillary events and programming, especially in a biennial context” and we are quite curious if this statement also turns into reality – considering that the rest of it resembles a tourist brochure promoting Istanbul.
